Corruption of prescription drugs is a serious problem.  Combining one batter of pain medication with another drug without a proper education of how lethal it could be happens far too much.  A toxic combination caused my blood brother to never wake up again.  The National Center for Health Statistics state that in 2010 lone there were 38,329 people that died of drug overdoses involving prescription painkillers.

Co-ordinate to the CDC, merely today, in one day, 100 people will dice from a drug overdose involving some kind of pain med.

Um, what'due south up doc?

Information technology's easy to think that overdoing hurting meds is safer than abusing illicit drugs like crack or heroin due to the "regulation" of prescription drugs or considering some professional wrote it out on a slice of script newspaper.Non. Ofttimes regulation is a joke. It is too piece of cake to stockpile drugs. Far too easy to have multiple doctors writing multiple scripts. Far also like shooting fish in a barrel to non know how these drugs volition combine with other drugs one takes.

Okay, what got me thinking about this stuff is a bright movie I saw recently at the Buoy Independent Moving-picture show Festival chosen Bottled Up written and directed by Enid Zentelis. It made me retrieve near the messages bottled up in these pills. Is it physical pain we are fixing? It made me think of the times that my mom has naively taken her pain meds also far and became zombie mom. Information technology made me thrilled that I don't fifty-fifty fill the pain med scripts that take come my way on occasion fifty-fifty for legitimate pain. I tough it out. I don't desire that stuff on my shelf or in my trunk. It'southward not worth the risk. The "feel good" or "feel numb" factor is far besides seductive. Of course, there are people that take these pills properly and absolutely need them to survive real deal pain. Unfortunately, we tin't live in a globe without something to numb the pain. Just saying... it can get pretty messy if ane doesn't have their thinking caps on.

The motion-picture show had many themes, but the thru line was nearly the insidious and common dis-ease of codependency and enabling. Melissa Leo played a mom who went to extremes to protect her pain med fond daughter.  The dynamic betwixt them was so convincing that it made me feel similar that I was function of their Bermuda triangle and in their shattered lives. Without giving anything away, it had a stunning and important catastrophe that left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.  The motion picture does an amazing task at keeping it calorie-free, only it was an important public service announcement on a very dark bailiwick.

It got me thinking.
